On Monday evening a meeting of the members of the Bowling Club was held in the Angling Society room. There were about 20 members present. Alderman Ruston occupying the chair. The officers appointed for the year ensuring were President Mr J B Ellis; Captain Dr P Stiles; secretary and treasurer Mr C A Rose.  A Committee was also appointed.

It was decided to use the ground over the line from the Priory Road now occupied by Mr Perkins.  The minimum subscription was fixed at 5 shillings, and it was left to the Committee to frame a set of rules. The work of getting the ground into order, fencing etc, has already been commenced.
